Agile

What is an Agile Coach?

An agile coach develops agile capability beyond a single team — coaching teams, leaders, and the organization on practices, mindset, and the structural changes (funding, HR, governance) that agile at scale actually requires. Where a scrum master serves one team, a coach works the system around many.

The craft is graduated: teach when they're new, mentor when they're practicing, facilitate when they're able, coach (pure questions) when they're strong — and know which mode a team needs today.

Worked example

An enterprise coach spends her week: morning with a new team teaching estimation basics; afternoon with a struggling scrum master, mentoring through a conflict; Thursday with the CFO, redesigning project funding into product funding — because twelve well-coached teams were still being strangled by annual budget gates only an executive conversation could open.
