What is Validate Scope?
Validate Scope is the customer formally accepting completed deliverables. Its exam twin, Control Quality, is the team checking correctness first. Order matters: QC verifies the deliverable, then the customer validates it — you don't ask for sign-off on work you haven't checked.
One-word anchors: quality control = correct; validate scope = accepted. Acceptance produces the formally accepted deliverables that flow into project closing.
Worked example
A paving contractor's QC lab confirms the asphalt meets density spec (control quality). The following week, the municipal engineer walks the road, reviews the test reports, and signs the acceptance certificate (validate scope). If a section later fails, the signed acceptance is the line between "defect repair" and "new negotiation."
