Program

What is a Program Roadmap?

The program roadmap is the chronological big picture: components, major milestones, key dependencies, and — critically — when benefits arrive, all on one timeline. It's coarser than any project schedule and more useful to executives than all of them combined.

It's also the communication tool for sequencing logic: why the platform component must land before the three integration components, and why benefits start flowing in year two, not month two.

Worked example

An airline's fleet-renewal roadmap shows aircraft deliveries across five years, crew-training components starting six months before each delivery wave, route-network changes after each, and the fuel-savings benefit curve building wave by wave. One slide; every stakeholder conversation for five years starts from it.
