What is Story Points?

Story points are a relative, unitless measure of effort — this item is roughly twice that one — covering complexity, volume, and uncertainty together. Teams typically use a Fibonacci-like scale (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13) because precision fades as items grow.

Two exam-grade cautions: points are not hours in disguise, and they never compare across teams. A team's points mean something only against its own history — which is exactly what velocity measures.
