What is Kanban?

Kanban is a flow-based method: visualize the work on a board, limit how much is in progress at once, and continuously pull the next item as capacity frees up — no fixed iterations required. Its metrics are flow metrics: cycle time, throughput, work item age.

Choose-your-method scenarios usually hinge on work type: unpredictable, interrupt-driven streams (support, operations, maintenance) suit Kanban's continuous flow better than sprint commitments that interruptions would constantly break.
